Expectations on Monday morning were high following the previous week's catches and with the river running at 12 inches it was looking like a decent week ahead. However, the weather had other ideas. The cloud clover disappeared early on Monday and did not returning to Friday leaving clear blue skies and fish that were very reluctant to take. A change on Friday brought periods of rain and lower temperatures along with a small rise bringing the level back up to 11 inches.

Callum Cheape got the up and running with a brace of grilse from beat 3 and followed this up with a further two on Saturday. Alan Liddle landed three from beat 2, Gordon Williamson picked up one from beat 3 and William Thomson made the best of the improved overheads on Friday landed three. Ken Debney had to wait to Saturday to land one and ended the day catching seven. Kevin Hiddlestone had three while Hans Janssen and Stuart Thomas rounded of the catches with one each from beats 9 and 10.

We have had our best August in a few years with 150 landed, there is plenty of optimism as we head into the final 5 weeks of the season.
