Weekly Report

The current dry spell has continued to persist for another week with the far north of Scotland experiencing only occasional light showers of rain. While there were long periods of bright sunshine, a cool easterly breeze kept air temperatures pegged back to low double figures. Despite these conditions we concluded the week with six fish, Thursday being the only blank day and two landed on Saturday.

Iain Dalton got the week up and running in his first few casts on Monday morning with a 13-pounder from the Mill stream on beat 2. Robert Jamieson picked up an 8-pounder from the Old womans on beat 11 and Ed Mclellan had one on Saturday morning from James Macdonald's on beat 9.

Local angler Adrian Winchester had a great week with three to his own rod. The first was an 8-pounder from Loch Beg, followed up with one of 9-pound from beat 11 and finally a very fresh 10-pounder from Comlifoot on beat 4.

A fine fresh springer

While the past few weeks have not fully showcased the Thurso's potential for catches the past six days have given a glimpse of what is possible despite adverse conditions, given a substantial lift in water levels the catches will undoubtedly rise.
