It was a much better week on the river thanks to improved overheads. Colder winds from the north helped lower both air and water temperatures, along with very little in the way of bright sun the fish switched back on to a degree. Large tides helped push fresh grilse into the lower beats daily, even some of the older resident fish on the higher beats started to show interest.

Philip Pledger got the week up and running with a fresh 14lb salmon from beat 4, and went on to catch a second 8lb fish. Gordon Wyllie had a solid week with four, John wood was in about the action most days landing 8. Martin Rogers and Jeremy King shared six, best was 10lb from beat 2 for Martin. James Pickering had three with two coming from beat 10 on the hitch. Charles Holmes and Theo Paul with a fish each. 

Thankfully, this cooler spell looks set to continue. With fish gathering in the estuary and a good stock already in the river now would be an ideal time for a summer spate.
