With a strong start to the week expectations were that catches well into double figures was achievable. Unfortunately the weather played a significant role in curtailing our expectations. With clear blue skies from Wednesday through to Friday, combined with a cold east wind undoubtedly impacted the total for the week.

Despite the challenging conditions there is still plenty of optimism. We have seen enough activity that indicates an increased number of new fish entering the system over the past six days which is a promising sign as we move into the month of May next week.

Tim Speering had a great start picking up two fish on consecutive days. First was an 11-pounder from beat 3 on Monday, and his second was an 8-pounder from loch Beg on Tuesday. Duncan laird was rewarded for his short visit with a brace of 10-pounders. Chris Blundell caught his first Thurso salmon on Thursday evening from beat 4 proving that staying out late on those brighter days can certainly pay off, his second came from beat 13 on Saturday weighing 12lb.

Tight lines next week.
