Weekly Report

The week began with some pleasant winter weather. Clear skies and light winds brought a hard frost on Monday and Tuesday. The river settled back to more sensible levels for fishing compared to the opening week, this allowed a few local anglers to get out on the water and wet a line in search of the first fish of the season. One of the advantages of clear skies earlier in the week was the spectacular display of the Aurora Borealis on Monday evening. The vibrant display of greens and reds lit up the Caithness skies in one of the best displays seen in recent years.

The weather shifted as the week progressed,  easterly winds and heavy periods of rain left it feeling really cold, and with fluctuating river levels the river remained unsettled and grumbly through to Saturday with angling activity became increasingly light . Next week looks like much of the same with a possibility of snow showers towards next weekend.
