Weekly Report

The past week brought subtle changes in weather compared to the previous week. We seen less bright blue skies and generally lower temperatures, particularly at night with lows of 6'c. These cooler nights will certainly be beneficial to the fish within the river. One of the challenging aspects was a lack of wind which left the slower flatter pools barely fishable due to the fish being very easily spooked. Despite this we still seen a handful caught by concentrating efforts on the steamier water.

Kevin Hiddleston successfully landed two grilse on consecutive days from beat 4 and 3. Hilary and Stephen Drury managed a fish each from beat 9, weighing in at 7 and 13-pounds respectively.

Its hard to believe how quickly the year is passing us by, we are now only one week away from meteorological autumn. The nights are growing longer, farmers are busy with their harvests, and soon we will see our summer visitors such as the osprey, sand martin's and the cuckoo depart for autumn and winter.
