After a pleasant few days following the river opening last Wednesday winter returned this week with a vengeance.
Heavy prolonged snowfall rendered the upper river unreachable due to the road conditions, and even where access was manageable grue was the big issue and never eased off before Thursday afternoon.
Thankfully the thaw is now well underway, this will leave the river high for the start of next week but without further rainfall, it should be in fine fettle by midweek.
