The fishing continues to pick away nicely with fresh fish caught throughout the beats from bottom to top. The first three days were most productive until a significant rise in both air and water temperatures later in the week slowed the fishing down, especially those larger fish that have been in the river a week or more.

Notable catches this week were Peter Duncan with three, best of which 14lb from beat 10. Nigel Cox had two from Loch Beg, Donald Mackay also had two from beat 9.  Annie Mitchell landed her first Thurso salmon, a fresh fish of 13lb fish from beat 3. Dr Mike Leach had one from beat 9, Freddie Sutherland and Ian Adams adding to the final tally.

While there is still enough water to allow fish to enter the river there is now fish showing in the estuary, some cooler days or preferably a lift in water would be very helpful. Next week looks settled with high pressure set to dominate.
