It was a strange week on the river, it felt as though we should have caught more and we certainly would of had everything that made contact stayed on. In the end we finished the week with two fish landed.

Mark Oughtred  caught his first Thurso salmon on Friday from beat 9. This was a wonderful achievement, marking the fourth generation of his family to catch a salmon on the Thurso. Mike Robinson also landed his first salmon from the river on Saturday morning from beat 9, interestingly both were caught from the same pool, Jamie Sutherland's.

The smolt run is now well underway. We are seeing large numbers gathering in the pools during the day as they navigate their way downstream to eventually make the transition from fresh to salt water.

Sadly, a much respected and popular River Thurso bond holder recently passed away. His friends and family have asked us to make regular Thurso anglers aware that there may be an opportunity to purchase one or more of his bonds. They were all for 15 years duration, expiring after the 2037 season, leaving 11 years remaining from now. These bonds apply to specific weeks in the months of May, June ,July, August and September.
