Weekly Report

The last ten days have seen some of the coldest weather since the famed beast from the east in February 2018 with overnight temperatures well below -10 and rarely above freeing during daylight hours. A thaw is due throughout the first half of next week although colder weather is predicted for Christmas.

This cold snap comes just at the right time for the salmon eggs nestled away in the riverbed, had the unseasonably mild weather continued the eggs would of hatched out way to early and with only minimal yolk sack reserves would be in danger of starving.

The images above show how beautiful the banks of the river Thurso are winter.
