The unpredictability of the weather over the past week hasn't been helpful on the fishing front. There were days when the upper river basked in glorious sunshine while the lower river was quite chilly under the sea haar rolling in of the Pentland firth. Under the cloud water temperatures were often higher than the air, not ideal fishing conditions and it undoubtably had an effect on the fish within the river.
We still had a few notable catches throughout the week. Alex Parramore used his 60-plus years of experience to land a fantastic 13-pounder from beat 9, his soon Mark worked hard as was rewarded with a 7-pounder from beat 2 on a micro hitch tube. John Albertson had one from beat 10 and last but certainly not least Vicky Jagger had a grilse from beat 5 on Saturday morning.
As we head towards the end of August we can only hope to see more autumnal weather sooner rather than later.
