This past week seen periods of significant rainfall in the far north and the Thurso received it's fair share. The heaviest fell throughout Tuesday and into Wednesday morning, this lifted the river to just over 50 inches.

The high water made walking the river to observe spawning activity all but impossible. However, by Sunday levels had subsided enough to spot-check a few well known areas. Early indications are that many fish have successfully spawned despite the constant high water, with multiple redds seen on beats nine, ten and above loch More.

Air temperatures have dropped considerably thanks to a cold wind from the North, and it looks like we could see our first dusting of snow soon.
