Weekly Report

The week began slowly but Adrian Brighly landed the first fish on Beat 10. Then the heavy rain and high winds up to 60mph on Tuesday set us up for our best week of the season so far. We had cold nights bringing the water temp down to 48 F. Richard Jewell opened his account for his week getting a 9lber from Aimsters on Beat 2. Keith Ogden and Liam Higgins had 4 fish between them on Beat 11 and they proved to be a successful duo as the week went on landing 18 in all.

Luby Greenish worked hard and managed to bring a 10lber to the net from Old Womans pool on Beat 11. Derek Woodcock landed his first Thurso salmon at 15lb then landed a further 2 more from Beat 5. His brother Tom wasn't far behind getting a 5lb fish from lower suilag on Beat 3. On their first visit they both managed their first Thurso salmon. The Olsen party landed 15 salmon between them with Nigal Olsen being the top rod for the group with 8.

Tim Hawes was the top rod for the week landing 13 fish to his own fishing a Puppy Dog conehead. The water temp has fallen and the fish have been more forthcoming to a bigger fly or tube. Chris Adams fished hard and was rewarded with a 12 lber from Old Womans. He then went on to get 3 for his week. Richard Jewell followed suit adding 3 more to his tally and landing his first fish by backing up Beat 7 whilst Brian Emslie landed his first Thurso salmon,a 12 lber from Cruives Eye, Bt. 10.

Jonathan Garland landed the biggest fish of the week at 20lb from Gertson pool on beat 4. Throughout the week we had strong winds and heavy showers which kept the river from dropping fast and the loch started to creep up slowly. The week finished with 127 fish caught, our best week this year so far and lets hope it continues for the rest of the season.
