The conditions this week were similar to last, however this did not dampen the anglers' spirits as they set out each day. However, whilst fish were seen, touched and lost, the low water and poor fishing conditions heavily hampered efforts.
We are starting to see more grilse showing, especially on the lower river and in the harbour the fish are waiting for the lift to run the river and we remain hopeful that these conditions will change soon.
The highlight this week was the duck and boat race, held each year, for the Halkirk Gala. It was a colourful, well-attended event where most of the village was out to have fun and the kids enjoyed watching to see if their boat won the race
As always we are willing to give you advice on local trout fishing and if you want to sea fish let us know at the start of the week so we can try to book it in. Hopefully the current overnight rains and rise will bode well for the week to come.
