Weekly Report

We had another decent week with 40 fish caught, and we are starting to see grilse make up the bulk of the catches, which is what we would expect to see in July. The promised deluge of rain forecast on Wednesday turned out to be a bit of a non-starter, we did get a two-inch lift which did help move new fish higher up the system, fresh grilse were caught from beat 8 upwards during the second half of the week.

John Brownlie had four for his week and David Roberts had three in two days. Bill Thomson and his son William shared seven throughout the week. Murdo O'Brien, Colin MacRitchie and Gary Macleod enjoyed their first trip to the Thurso with ten between them. Bob Sherwood and Rob Maundrell adding to the tally for the week. And Final mention goes to Tiggy Pettifer who had her first Thurso salmon. The feisty fresh grilse was caught in the Mill stream on beat 2.

The cooler northerly winds is keeping water temperatures down below 60' Fahrenheit which is helping fresh fish run constantly into the system.

Tight lines next week.
