Weekly Report

The past few weeks has seen more days of rain than settled weather. Like many other parts of the country the Thurso also felt the effects of storm Babet. With 26 hours of persistent rain we had the highest river levels seen in some years.

Thankfully damage to styles, walkways and huts was minimal. The only large impact was to the bridge on beat 7 which was temporarily left lopsided. But after a few days and some very helpful people everything was back the way it should be.

Now that we are into the month of November our attention turns to assessing the number of mature Atlantic salmon on the spawning grounds. The upper tributaries above loch More are in full swing with many fish seen on the redds. We should start seeing good numbers of spawning fish on the Main river next week.
