The week got off to a fantastic start with 30 landed for the first two days of the week, there was no doubt we were comfortably heading toward our best week of the season. As is often the case  weather can often have a big impact and unfortunately conspired against our anglers during the second half of the week. Wednesday and Thursday brought clear skies and rising temperatures. Although the cloud returned on Friday and Saturday the damage had been done with the water remaining higher than the air, less than ideal but we can still be very encouraged with what we seen during the first few days. 

Mike Stanton had a great week landing eight, John Goodman caught six and Tom Armstrong landed four. Cary Pugh's yearly trip from across the pond was rewarded with three, best 13lb from beat four. Phil Church and Stuart Miller both landed a brace. Stuart Doward, Adrian Brightley, Richard Garland and Joseph Dirkmorfeld all adding to the weeks total.

We also had a few notable firsts this week. Tom Wilson caught his first Thurso salmon from loch Beg weighing 5lb and followed it up with a second at 9lb from beat 2. Max also achieved his first with one of 7lb from beat 2, Max's mum Polly kept the theme going with her first, 7lb from beat 2. Chris Armstrong landing his first ever Atlantic salmon on Friday from beat and followed it up the next day day with one from beat 3 weighing 14lb. Finally Simon Boddy also landed his first, 10lb from beat 3.

As already mentioned the weather can have such an impact on fishing. One thing has become apparent over the last six days, the grilse have arrived in good numbers with running fish a regular sight throughout the beats. Next week looks set to remain warm with periods of bright sunshine, early mornings and late evening may offer the best chance of a fish.
