Weekly Report

The season ended on Monday, October 5th. We finished well with 17 for the day. It was great to see familiar faces on the final day. Dr Mike Leach landed two from beat 5, including one at 18lbs. John and Jan Drummond continued their momentum from the previous week with one each, as did Andrew Rettie and Tom Samson. Mark Osborne and Scott MacColl landed two each., while Eddie Bremner, Hugo Ross, David Elder and Peter Duncan Jr all had one fish.

As we look back on the season we finished with a total of 918, marking a significant improvement on last year. Among the highlights were Hugo Ross who landed the first of the season from beat 4 on March 21st. The largest was caught by Matthew Will from beat 7, tipping the scales at 22-pounds. After a few lean years due to low water levels the month of June was much improved with 125, the majority of which were multi-sea winter salmon averaging over 10lb. August was a strong month with 160, and a remarkable September total of 411 helped us finish the season strongly.

The sun sets on another season

Finally, two valued members of our team, James Barlow and John Wildgoose have decided to end their time with us on the Thurso. Both brought their own unique style and character to the river which made them immensely popular with guests and other ghillies. They will be missed greatly, we wish them the absolute best and they will always be welcome back on the river.

Only 92 days to go before it all starts again.
