Loch Beg

Weekly Report

Another week goes by and high pressure continues to dominate. Overheads were not too bad but as the week progressed the mercury began to rise and the cloud evaporated with Saturday giving us temperatures hitting the mid-20s centigrade.

We still have fresh fish entering the river although their progress is limited to the lower and middle river the odd fresh grilse seen above beat 9, a total of 10 for the week could have easily been 20 plus had more stayed on.

Peter Duncan

Alan Cormie had the first for the week from Beat 13, Alan had a second from Beat 4. Eddie Bremner had three for his week including one on Saturday morning proving that a very early start can often be the best chance. Peter Duncan had a brace from beat 2, Freddy Sutherland and Sholto Hunter taking a fish each. And finally first time Thurso angler Billy Brunsdon had a 10-pounder from Jamie Sutherlands on beat 9.

The higher temperatures look set to continue into next week although there is more of a threat of isolated thunderstorms which in the right place may be all that is needed to freshen things up. It is hard to believe that in just over a week it will be the longest day of the year.

Tight lines next week.
