This past week was one of the hottest September weeks experienced on the banks the Thurso in recent memory with temperatures into the late 20s centigrade from Tuesday onwards, along with cloudless skies and little in the way of wind everything was stacked against our anglers. Thankfully good water levels helped keep water temperatures at sensible level.
Although these conditions were not the best we still managed double figures for the week. First to catch was Travis Cobb who made the trip all the way from America with a grilse from beat 8, Travis would take a second later in the week, this time a fresh grilse from beat 4, also making the trip across the pond was Amos Smith who had a brace from beat 4.
Malcolm Cheape had two from beat 11 on Tuesday, Mark Steele also picked up two fish, David Priestly had one first light from beat 4 and Rosie Van Mussehenbroek had one from beat 3. Ken Debney did well to tempt a 20-pounder from Ronnie Grahams pool on beat 9.
Early indications are showing a change in the weather for next week with considerably cooler and damper conditions forecast.
Tight lines next week.
