Its was a better week with the total catch just short of double figures. We benefited from improved overhead conditions compared to the previous week, and despite it being dry since early April the back up of loch More as always has been vital in allowing fresh fish to enter the river daily. 

The majority of the activity over the past six days was on the lower half of the river. Eddie Bremner landed the first of the week with a liced fish of 10lb from Gerston on beat 4. Brothers Nigel and Peter Olessen shared three, with Peter catching his two in quick succession from beat 7. Adrian Brightley also caught two, the best 12lb from the Manse on beat 4. John Wood also picked one up from the Manse on beat 4 on Saturday weighing 13lb. Jerry Oddie  picked one up from the Stall on beat 11. Finally Jim Lomax landed his first Thurso springer, a 10lb fish from Hoy.

It is encouraging to see new fish entering the river from the sea with all the fish caught on the lower beats sea-liced. Looking ahead to next week the forecast looks cool and unsettled, any lift in water levels would likely see an increase in catches.
