Weekly Report

The week started with plenty of optimism due to heavy rain forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday. While it failed to produce the amount we expected further periods of rain throughout the week eventually lifted the river to six inches. Even this small rise was enough to encourage fish to move with increased numbers running in from the sea and showing more interest in our angler's flies.

Colin Penny landed three including the first of the season from Loch More. Tony Fox and Colin Duffy enjoyed their first visit to the Thurso with five between them .Angus Brown had four in three day. Harry Edmonds and his father, Harry senior both laded one. Ally Macleod, Murdo O'Brien and Charles Mosse were also in about the action. Jonathan Wildgoose landed his first Thurso salmon from beat 3 and quickly followed it with his second.

While it was disappointing to miss out on the rain the number of fish within the system is very encouraging, With the right overheads there is always a chance on any beat.

Tight lines next week.
