The start of the week was windy and overcast with Calum Cheape landing an 11 lb salmon and Ken Debney a 14 lber on Beat 7, both to the Red Francis. On Beat 12 the Armstrong party had good fishing landing one fish of 10 lbs but rising 5 and losing 1 between them. Further down the river John Graham and Richard Coller both caught grilse on Beats 2 and 3.
The Armstrong party were again on the score sheet landing a 6 lb fish from Beat 10, whilst Stuart Miller netted an 8 lb bar of silver on Beat 4 from the Hoy Pool. Meanwhile on Beat 2, Richard Garland secured a 3 lb grilse and Cary Pugh caught a fine 14lb salmon on the Mill Stream.
Adrian Brightly brought a 9 lb fish to the net from Comlifoot, Beat 4, in the morning and Calum Cheape got his second for the week with a fresh 4 lb grilseat the High Water Mark, Beat 3.
Windy conditions suit loch fishing and Loch More can provide an excellent opportunity for getting into a salmon. If you want to explore and fish somewhere new, try Loch Eileanach for wild brown trout with both boat and bank currently providing some excellent sport on the mayfly.
The estuary has a large head of salmon and grilse building up. Wet weather is forecast which should bring those fresh fish into the river!
