There is not a lot that can be said about the Last 7 days other than the weather was quite frankly terrible for salmon fishing.
You have to look a little deeper to see the problems caused by the cold North easterly winds. The average air temperature was 4 degrees Celsius from Monday to Friday, and the average water temperature was 5 degrees Celsius ! and there lies the problem, warmer water in comparison to the air is generally not a good combination.
Thankfully a warm front pushed north on Saturday morning bringing heavy rain, warmer air temperatures and a change in wind direction to southerly.
On a brighter note, the lunch hut on beat 8 has had a full interior refurb following flood damage during the winter.
Next week looks unsettled and blustery at times but thankfully no sign of any easterly winds.
Tight lines next week.
