Weekly Report

Monday was the final day of July and with five fish it took the total for the month to 276, our second-best July in seven years thanks to some fresh water and a full loch More.  For the next few days the fishing slowed down with the fish at times completely unresponsive to our anglers flies, many theories were discussed why this was the case but the general consensus was once colder air moved in from the north on Tuesday night the water temperature was higher than the air, and it was not until later on Thursday before we had the temperatures swapped around and the fish came back on the take.

John Parsons had the first for the week, a fresh grilse from beat 9, John had a second on Tuesday from beat 7. Colin Penny had a great week catching six, Simon Maclucas did really well with five in three days, Dora Marshall had a brace, Freddy Sutherland picked up two as did Mike leach, renowned fly tier Ross Macdonald had one from beat three, Stuart Dawson, Colin Macleod, Sandy Scott, Peter Duncan and Malcolm Dutchman-Smith all adding to the total for the week.

The latter part of the week saw the largest tides of the summer, this along with the cooler water temperatures has helped good numbers of fresh grilse move into the lower beats. Hopefully the weather plays its part next week.
