The week began promisingly when Dougie Reid, using his 60-plus years of experience landed a fresh 10-pounder from the Broad pool on beat 9 by 11am on Monday morning.
Despite this early success the weather presented challenges for the remainder of the week. Clear skies and a minimal breeze made enticing further springers into taking a fly very difficult. Additionally the clear skies led to plummeting temperatures overnight with Thursday morning down as low as minus 5, this left fishing early and late in the day a no-go.
Saturday morning saw a slight improvement with more cloud cover and another fish was caught, this time it was Adrian Winchester with an 8-pounder from the corner pool on beat 3.
High pressure looks set to continue into next week, when we see a change in weather we should hopefully see more action on the river.
Tight lines next week.
