January has  been and gone with no sign of that elusive early spring salmon, in all honesty there were very few days when the local anglers could get out and fish due to a mix of bad weather or high river levels.

As we progress through February the chances of bumping into a Springer will increase provided we catch a break with the weather, but anyone who knows Caithness it can often change in an instant.
