Weekly Report

The final full week finished with a total of 80. While this was another very strong week it would have certainly been more had overhead conditions been more favourable to our anglers. The general consensus is that the above average temperatures have made the fish a little docile, particularly the male salmon who would normally be very aggressive at this late stage of the season.

Andrew Rettie had a strong start with a brace from beat 2 on Monday morning and landed four in Total. Charles Mylchreest had a great week with ten as did Neil Richmond landing eight. Francis Milner visiting for the second time this year from Canada landed six. Jean Louis Siboni, Etienne Garin and Francios Garin made their annual trip from france and all landed a few. Tom Samson landed three as did John Drummond, including a 19-pounder for John from beat 7. Denver Todd and Bobby Bryans shared four.

Titch Turner and his team of rods had their share of the catches with Steve Rigby, Les Owen and Jack Richard all catching. We also had couple of firsts this week. Hamish Ogilvie made the trip north for a few days and landed his first Thurso salmon from beat 9. Ricky Lloyd not only landed his first salmon from the river but his first on the fly and would finish with three for his week.

Another season is nearly at an end and as week look back on 2026 it has been a much improved year, both in terms of better conditions and the number of returning adult salmon to the river. However, we are not quite finished yet, we have one final day offering one last chance to enjoy chasing the king of fish.
