This past week brought generally decent weather for fishing with consistent cloud cover and a steady breeze for the most part.. The fish however proved reluctant to show interest in what our anglers were offering them much of the time. We still seen a few caught and with fish still sneaking in at night one can only wonder how many are lying quietly in the deep pools waiting on a lift in water.
Colin Penny is no stranger to putting the hours in and was rewarded for his persistence with two 5-pound grilse. James Mylne had a fresh grilse from beat 2 and Charles Mosse successfully landed his first Thurso fish from beat on Saturday.
Looking ahead storm Floris is going to batter the country on Monday with severe gales and heavy rain, fingers crossed the Thurso catchment sees a good drop of rain.
Tight lines next week.
