As we approach the end of August the nights are getting longer and this in turn is helping keep water temperatures down in the low 60s Fahrenheit which is helping to keep the salmon active enough to show intrest in our flies.
Light tackle such as trout or switch rods are usually best for a stealthy approach with long tapered leaders and small dark flies such as the stoats tail although some limited success has been had on larger more spring like flies which will often shock a salmon into taking.
