Prospects 17/05/2024

To say the weather has been a bit of a challenge this week would be an understatement. However, by fishing early and late our anglers gave themselves a chance of bumping into a fish.

With higher air temperatures the water temperatures have also increased with an average of 64' Fahrenheit (18c). This has changed how we approach pools with fish more likely now to lie higher up in streams during the morning and evenings, a stealthy approach and light tackle will often pay dividends.

Lighter tackle and small flies will definitely be the norm until a change in the weather occurs. We also had our first fish of the season on the riffled hitch, a tactic that can be as exciting as it can be frustrating but can often save a blank day.
