It has been an excellent end to the season, with the last 4 days producing 168 fish. Weather wise it has been stormy week and I think many of the rods were happy to finish after four days of tough fishing! The river remained high all week and this meant that it has been the middle beats that have done particularly well and it was good to see beat 5 producing some excellent sport.
What was disappointing was the lack of fresh fish, like many other rivers we did not see any late run of Salmon. What was encouraging was a small run of sea-trout that came into the river and a number of these were caught up to 3 pounds and a few at around the 1½lb mark.
Later in the month I will be doing a full review of the season and also a looked forward to next year. Tim Hawes
