With 24 fish, it has been another very difficult week. The last few weeks have shown us how difficult salmon fishing can be at times and I do feel for those guests that are visiting us, some for the first time and finding the fish have just switch off. Occasionally the rods have found some co-operative fish and have a good day, but these are the exception.
As we move into September, a quick look back at August. We took 329 Fish for August, which when set against our 5 and 10 year averages of 412 and 492 is disappointing. We started well with 213 fish for the first couple of weeks, but after that our catches dropped off. There has been no shortage of fish and we have had reasonable water, but the temperature of the water has been a factor with a number of days well over 60F.
As we move into September we need either a big spate or the temperature to drop; both will bring the fish back on the take.
