REPORT
With exactly 101 fish it has been our best week of the season and we finished September with 213 salmon, which has more than doubled our catch for the season.
The river was slowly rising all week and started at 15 inches on Monday, during Thursday we had another spell of rain and we peaked at 29inches in the early hours of Friday morning. Being the first good rise, the spate has been dirty and this has caused some problems on the lower beats, but today it is starting to clear nicely. All week the fish were running hard and with good water in the fish pass we saw good numbers of fish running the pass and into Loch More.
There is no doubt we have seen a good movement of fish from the lower to the upper beats and into Loch More, what we haven’t yet seen is any number of fish come in from the sea. Theories abound, but with the spate on Thursday / Friday, this should be enough to attract fish in and we could have a very good last week of the season. The wind for the last week looks like it will be a challenge, but the water should be about perfect!
Tight lines to all fishing next week
