This past week Caithness baked in glorious sunshine and temperatures during the later part of the week hit the mid 20s. Not ideal salmon fishing weather and with angling effort at a minimum it was generally a quiet week, however reasonable numbers of grilse are arriving and running in to the lower beats on every tide with the few caught this week in great condition.
Following further helpful advice from the Scottish government earlier this week we are very pleased to advise that a limited number of existing clients will be fishing the Thurso during the weeks of the 6th and 13th July. Accommodation will be on a self catering basis in several of the lodges. The Ulbster Arms should be open to residents from the 15th July. At this stage it is unlikely the public Bar will be open for food or drinks, it is hoped there will be some opportunity to use the restaurant. Initial food offerings will be focused on takeaway /snack type food. It is anticipated beer garden and adjacent large marquee will be a popular social area.
The majority of guests due to visit post 15th July now most helpfully been in touch.
