The week ended with over 30 fish in the book which has been by far our best week since the last week of July. The reasons for the upturn in catches is due to the weather which by midweek had become much colder with srengthening winds from the north and our first frost of the autumn on Thursday morning. All but a couple of beats picked up fish this week and there was even a few fresh fish seen on the lower beats.
This cold spell has helped to drop the water temperature right back down to the low 50s fahrenheit which has brought the fish back on and helped wake up the aggressive nature of the male salmon as they edge closer to spawning activity towards the end of October.
Monday will see us start our final week of the season. A drop of water would be nice to finish with but as long as it stays cold and we have a good steady breeze more of our salmon spread throughout the river will continue to come back on the take.
Tight lines and safe travels to all visiting us next week.
