Sometimes it can be difficult to find the words to describe salmon fishing but anticipation, excitement and frustration sum up the past week, as with the previous week our salmon continue to make our visiting anglers work hard for their rewards but persistence along with some early morning and late evenings proved fruitful.
The large tides throughout the week along with a small rise in levels midweek helped to pull in large numbers of grilse from the estuary, with fresh fish caught all the way up at beat 13 and the majority of these fish are in as good a condition as we have seen in many years.
Again the overhead conditions didn't help our cause, it was either bright blue skies or overcast and muggy, however there was occasional periods when the fish came on the take each day.
Looking ahead to next week some cooler weather is expected and will help but ideally a fresh drop of Water would be ideal. With the large numbers of fish now spread throughout the system when they do switch on to our anglers flies there is going to be some spectacular fishing to be had.
Tight lines for next week
