69 fish for the week was a hard earned total for the rods. There was all kinds of weather, but it was the wind that gave us the biggest challenge. The middle of the week saw the wind drop and made for difficult conditions on the slower parts of the river. I then think we wished too hard for the wind to return and Friday and Saturday saw some very unseasonal gales which made for challenging fishing.
The catches have been a mixture of both grilse and salmon. The good quality of the salmon we have been seeing, has continued with three 20lb salmon taken and a number in the high teens. As always with the early grilse there are a few small ones, but with a good number at around 5 lbs in is an encouraging start.
The loch is near full and so we will have enough water to keep the fish running well into July. If you are visiting us soon, keep an eye on the river height and think about putting a single handed rod in if the water is low.
Tight lines, Tim Hawes
