With a week of bright overhead conditions and very light fishing pressure we only had one fish in the book. Next week looks colder with northerly winds and periods of rain forecast.
It may only be the end of April but it has seemed like an eternity waiting for covid restrictions to be eased and allow anglers to finally make the trip north to enjoy the experience of the river Thurso during the spring with the wonderful sounds and sights that await them such as the curlew, osprey, oystercatchers, grouse, red and roe deer and sea eagles to name but a few.
The teams at both the Ulbster Arms and River Thurso have been working round the clock over the past few weeks and are looking forward to having both regulars and new visitors from next week.
ADVISORY NOTE OF CAUTION !!!!!!!!
As mentioned in the prospects blog many of the roads in caithness are in a poor state of repair and especially the minor single tracks we use to access the upper beats. From westerdale to loch More is particularly bad in places but passable with care.
Tight lines next week
