Another strong week with 148 fish. The river has again been up and down with a good rise mid week, which has kept the river in perfect condition. The lower beats suffered a little with the high water, but it did mean that the upper beats did well. Having said that beat 2 enjoyed a great day with 17 fish for 2 rods. We have seen some larger fish caught with three 20lbs or over and a good number in the teens. The week ended slowly with only 10 fish, but with the sun beating down all day and a difficult south easterly wind, it was a good result.
Whilst most of the fish we have been taking have been older resident fish, we have seen and caught a number of fresh fish, which is encouraging, it will be interesting to see next week if we are seeing a small late run of fish.
Next week is our last full week of the season and it looks encouraging. We have some rain in the forecast for today and it looks like a mainly cloudy week. The only blot on the landscape is it looks like the wind will remain in the south east, which is an awkward wind for the river.
Tight lines to everybody fishing next week
