As we approach the end of May we could be forgiven for thinking it was still the months of March or early April. A cold biting wind from the north east and periods of heavy torrential rain and hail made for a difficult week for our team of rods out this past week. Despite this we still had a steady week with 28 fish in the book.
Alex Parramore made his first of two annual visits to the Thurso and was rewarded with fresh 14 pounder from loch Beg on Wednseday and both his sons Mark and James had fish with James catching his first ever spring salmon from the upper bridge pool on beat 4 before breakfast on Monday morning. Not to be outdone Charlie Hancock also fishing with the Parramore family also had his first springer from the Stall pool on beat 11 Thursday.
John Dawson had a good week taking 4 fish to his own rod including our largest of the season, a cracking sea liced 18 pounder from the middle fence pool. And finally Sarah Elworthy landed her first Thurso salmon from beat 12 on Saturday weighing 10 lbs.
The early part of next week looks wet with continued winds from the north leaving a cooler than average feel for late May.
Again please take care on the roads and in particular Westerdale to loch more.
Tight lines next week
