Another week goes by and the wait for rain seems never ending. Overhead conditions throughout the summer have actually been very good and it hasn't been the hottest we have seen but it has been extremely dry. We had 10 fish for the week which is respectable but a fraction of what we could be catching.
Charlie Hancock was on form with three fish thanks to lots of help from his two sons Sebastian and Lawrie, Mr Johnston had a brace of 12 pounders from beat 2 and Mick Martin had a couple on Friday and Saturday from beats 4 and 2.
We received the very sad news on Saturday afternoon that one of the Thurso rivers stalwarts Sammy Glenn passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon. For those of us who were lucky enough to know him he was an absolute gentleman who went out of his way to help others and was one of the rivers greatest ambassadors. He will be missed greatly by the staff at the Ulbster Arms and the ghillies, our deepest sympathy and thoughts go out to Sammy's family at this time.
