With only 7 fish for the week is has again be exceptionally hard fishing. The river has continued to run at 2 inches and it is just enough to entice a few fish into the river, but with the mainly bright conditions it has been difficult to temp them to take. Interestingly the fish caught on Saturday, 8lbs from beat 4, looked liked a old fish as it was carrying colour which suggested that it had been in the river for some weeks, but in fact it was covered in sea lice. Some of the fish have been coming in with the tide for over 4 months and in this time they start to take on colour.
There has been rain in the forecast, but what we get just soaks into the ground. It is difficult to be optimistic at the moment, it seems every report since April I have said we need rain...…………….And so it is again.
We are all becoming expert weather watchers and listening to a long range weather forecast, it looks like I am pinning my hopes on a change in the jet stream that might be happening on the other side of the world, a very flimsy straw to clutch at, but it seems the best I have got!
Tight lines to you all.
