The wait for rain in the north of Scotland continues and many rivers including the Thurso are now in desperate need of water.
Water Temperatures have risen considerably this week due to clear blue skies and soaring air temperatures in to the mid 20s.
We still managed to put a few fish in the book despite the terrible overheads with Russell Colman landing our first of the week from lower Suilag on beat 3 weighing in at 15 pounds. Wednesday was the only day that gave us cloud cover and a stiff breeze and we had three fish caught with Peter Grubb landing a grilse on beat 8 and the Beeching party landing 2 on beat 4 with Henry Beeching and Eoin Morrissey the successful anglers. Perhaps the biggest surprise of the week was a fresh finnock (sea trout) caught on loch More on Monday.
Next week does looks like another dry week ahead although not quite as hot as the past few days with more cloud and a cooler breeze from the North. we also have the largest tides of the month which should hopefully pull a few fresh grilse in from the estuary.
Again please take care on the roads as potholes are numerous but remain passable with care.
Tight lines next week
