View of the water coming over the dam on Wednesday.
With 61 fish for the week it has been a good week in terms of fish caught, but also a frustrating week for a number of the rods.
The big spate at the beginning on Wednesday made the river unfishable with the river rising to 70 inches. On Thursday the river started to fish on those beats and pools that would take high water and a few fish were taken. We were all looking forward to Friday, but overnight rain meant that the river was again rising all day and made fishing difficult with already high water and a rising river.
At last on Saturday we started to see the fish that we knew had come into the river. The river was still high for many of the pools, but we took 24 fish for Saturday, which included 6 from the Hoy pool on beat to 20lbs. and 5 from beat 9, many of these fish were sea liced.
The Good news is that the spate has filled the loch and it will give us good water till the end of June.
Looking forward to next week........................Could be good.
