It is not unusual to have cold spells and snow during the month of April but this past week has been one of the coldest April weeks in many years. The early part of the week was blasted by cold gale force winds coming straight down from the arctic with fresh snowfall even on lower ground leaving only the hardiest of anglers out fishing. The second half of the week calmed down a little but with an river that remained unsettled due snowmelt.
A few fish were spotted on the upper beats but it seemed that they are not hanging around and heading straight in to loch More.
Next week looks cold to start but warming up later but thankfully a little less wind and with plenty of water and big tides fresh fish will have no trouble entering the system.
Tight lines and stay safe
