With only 2 weeks to the shortest day of the year its quite remarkable to think we are only 5 weeks away from the start of the 2020 fishing season on January 11th.
The weather this week could only be described as both mild and unpredictable, early in the week forecasters predicted a large front coming through on Thursday with 24 hours of heavy rain and severe gales, fortunately the forecast was wrong with nothing more than a breeze and a few heavy showers. It has been a wet autumn and early winter with occasional frosts.
Earlier this week we received the sad news that long time Thurso Ghillie and halkirk resident James Macdonald passed away. He was a thurso river man through and through and greatly respected by both ghillies and guests, our thoughts are with both his family and closest friends at this time, he will be missed by us all.
