In all honesty I firmly believed that this weeks report would have all the details of the first fish of the 2020 season, but unfortunately this was not the case, despite levels being high the previous weekend the river soon dropped back to fine order for Monday morning, and with settled overhead conditions, and rods out fishing most beats all week there was a sense of anticipation.
One thing that has been picked up by our regular anglers over the past few weeks is that the kelts have made a quick downstream migration back to sea this winter, the mild winter will of played its part in this along with steady river levels.
So will next week see us break our 2020 duck. I would like to think so, I made a bet with a good friend yesterday that I would eat my hat if this was not the case. I think my hat is safe, at least for a week.
