The early part of the past week saw something of a return to warmer weather with the mercury rising to over 20c on Monday and Tuesday, thankfully autumn decided to come back for the second half of the week with heavy showers and brisk winds which helped to bring some of the fish back on the take.
Looking at some of the highlights over the week Simon Barr fishing for 3 days set himself the task of completing a Macnab. No easy task but after landing a fresh grilse on beat 2 at 7.30am and managed to complete this unique sporting challenge with a brace of grouse and a stag close to the banks of the upper Thurso above loch more.
Will Clayton fishing with The Snell party caught his first every Salmon from beat 9 on Thursday from Achbhodaichean pool.
Some of our anglers found hunting for fish away from the main pools and trying something completely different was helping to put a few fish in the book, there was even a fish caught on a drifted Bomber this week which is almost unheard of scotland and more of a technique from across the Atlantic.
This week looks to be remaining unsettled with wind and periods of rain and heavy showers, hopefully this will put some water in the river.
Tight lines and safe travels to all visiting us this week
