Weekly Report

Below is the weekly report for Sunday, December 1, 2019

It has been a colder more unsettled week in caithness, the only thing missing in comparison to the rest of the country was the hard overnight frost many other places have seen over the last few days.

We had a significant rise in water levels midweek peaking on Thursday morning ar 52 inches.

A question that is often asked during larger floods of this kind are what affect they may have on the salmon redds within the river.

There will always be a handful of redds that will be affected but with a spate this size experience has told us the vast majority will be safe and unaffected by this recent flood, it is only when we get scenarios like the 2006 flood which was more than double this weeks height that will cause damage.
